I was awakened at 3 am by something large moving around my camp. I guess fumbling around for my light made enough noise that it ran off. I never saw what it was but all my food was intact. I dozed off and on until 5 am then packed up and headed out. At a diner in the town of Littleton I stopped and had a big breakfast. 3 pancakes homemade hash eggs and toast. I love corned beef so this hash was impressive. Not too much potatos and lots of big chunks of beef. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Breakfast was very good but the coffee was a bit weak. From my seat in the diner I could see a Dunkin so I stopped and had a latte and a doghnut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Caffeine and sugar! <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Fully caffinated I hit the trail once more. The going was really slow due to the size of the stone used. After 3 miles riding and 2 miles walking,I was fed up with it. Rose the girl I met in New York had done this trail in the other direction so I text her to see how long this continued. Her and Kim had taken a bus around it and that definitely seemed like the smarter choice. Rose gave my number to Jen, a warmshower host that she had stayed with in this area. Jen called me and gave me a lot of local information on which roads to take to get to where I wanted to be. She was unbelievably knowledgeable about many different route options, even knowing gradients, shoulder conditions and traffic volume. Following her advice I took the road for about 12 miles and got to the trailhead I wanted to be on. Thanks Rose and Jen!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But before I could get on the road I still had the 2 mile walk and 3 mile ride which took nearly an hour and a half. My feet are not happy about the walking. My blisters are back. Since Massachusetts I have had to push up a few hills a couple times a day. My shoes just aren’t made for that. It might be time for a new pair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The riding today was absolutely beautiful. The line of mountains kept getting closer and closer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On a observation deck I stopped and ate a late lunch. Tuna salad on tortillas. It was delicious. Sometimes its not what you eat its where you eat it that makes a meal great.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
