We left the motel around 11. The Rain had stopped by then, but it was still cloudy. The temperature was in the low 70s. Perfect for riding. We didn’t really have a destination in mind, just ride until we were tired then find a place to stealth camp. Route 5 is beautiful here. There was many places with spectacular views of the lake on one side and acres and acres of vineyards on the other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We stopped for lunch at the Historical Barcelona Lighthouse. The view from the picnic area was awesome. After eating we walked through the museum\/visitor center. It was interesting. Lunch was the sandwich I packed from the motel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sun came out after a couple hours. So did the wind. We were hot and tired by 4 o’clock and ready to stop for the day. After finding a likely looking camping spot that was out of sight, we relaxed on a park bench for a bit. One of the drawbacks to stealth camping is that you can’t set up camp until almost dark. Sunset was still 4 hours away so we rode down to the beach to go for a swim. Unfortunately the wind had created some pretty big waves and the water was muddy, choppy and uninviting. We found a bench that was shaded and sheltered from the wind and Rose started dinner while I walked down to a nearby creek to get water. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For dinner we had pasta with pesto and the rest of the free zucchini. We still had a little bit of parmesan cheese to grate on top of it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After dinner we rode back to the beach to watch the sunset.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the sunset we quickly hung up our hammocks and crawled in. I was sound asleep in just a few minutes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We were up and packed by 6 am. We rode to a picnic table to make coffee and breakfast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While Rose ate oatmeal, I went for a swim. It was chilly 56 degrees outside. The water felt warm though. The lake was so calm it was hard to believe it was the same one we were beside watching the sunset. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
