It has been two days since I have posted an update. I will get up to date with this post but I might have events or places out of order. Days tend to run together on bike trips.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The day we left Geneva On The Lake the weather was great. We set out without any real destination, just to ride as far as we could and then stealth camp. But in order to find a campsite we had to first get through Cleveland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bike trail we were on went right by the rock and roll Hall of Fame. We didn’t stop. I was more interested in finding a cup of coffee and a place to swim. Finally after finding a coffee shop and getting caffinated I was able to play some rock and roll on a Fender Guitar. I’m pretty sure if the right people would of heard my rendition of the song Bicycle by Queen I would of been inducted into the hall of fame too. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It turned out that getting through Cleveland wasn’t too bad. There were bike paths and bike lanes so for the most part traffic wasn’t an issue. However the wind was. By 11 am we realized we would not do enough miles to get us far enough away to find somewhere to camp. Rose contacted a Warmshower host who graciously agreed to host us on such short notice. It was another beautiful house right on the lake. Bill was a interesting guy who had completed a lot of bike tours. I enjoyed talking to him. We set up the tent in his back yard. It was a great view. The sunset was spectacular. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

That was only a 32 mile day. We got up and left pretty early. We were on the road by 7 am. We had another Warmshower host 64 miles away we were headed to. In the town of Madison at the park we ate lunch. Egg salad wraps. After lunch I napped for half an hour on a shaded park bench. A couple miles out of town a very nice lady stopped to talk. Her name was Shirley and she offered to buy us lunch. I am not one to usually turn down free food, but backtracking to the resturant then having to ride the same miles again with the wind wasn’t much of an option. It was so kind of her to stop and we enjoyed our brief talk with her. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We got to our destination around 5pm. Our host for the night were David and Mary. After being shown to our awesome upstairs room we walked down to the lake for a swim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After 64 miles the water felt great. We had our own little beach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After our swim David grilled burgers. We had cheeseburgers corn on the cob and potatoes salad. I was hungry and it really hit the spot. The potatoes salad was especially delicious. I think I had 3 helpings of it. It was a great Warmshower stay. One of my favorites!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a big breakfast of fresh fruit, bacon and pancakes, washed down with lots of coffee, we headed out. Today’s ride was really enjoyable. Small country roads with really light traffic<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Somewhere along the way we met an east bound rider. His name was Steve and he was headed to Provincetown, Massachusetts. He had started on the West Coast. We chatted a few minutes and then parted ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Near Bellevue we got on a Rail To Trails. It continued through farm land with some nice shaded sections. We are stealthed camped along it tonight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The zipper on Rose’s hammock malfunctioned tonight. I spent about an hour trying to fix it. My hand kept cramping up which certainly didn’t help matters. We had one banana left from the two David and Mary had given us when we left this morning. I ate it, but felt a little bad about it. I knew Rose was saving it for morning but bananas are supposed to help with cramps. Shortly after getting the zipper to function again a cyclist stopped and offered us a bottle of water and a banana! She was so kind and her timing was perfect! Definitely some trail magic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
