I took a zero day in Myrtle Beach. I had been 11 days and nearly 500 hundred miles. It was nice to rest. I even spent the night in a motel. At a Walmart I got my flu shot and the covid vaccine booster. It didn’t make me feel too bad but between that and the rainy weather I was glad to be indoors. Since it was for health reasons (side affects) the motel didn’t come out of my budget.

This morning was the coldest of the trip so far. 34 degrees. It was clear and sunny so it warmed up fast. At least I thought it had warmed up. The locals were all bundled up in coats, hats and even gloves. By 10 I was wearing my usual shorts and short sleeve shirt.
I finally had bit of a bike path today. I have been on roads for days now so the path was a nice respite. It wasn’t very long maybe 7 miles. It was very pretty mostly through pine woods with a few boardwalks over wetlands.

When I took the Southport Ferry a few days ago, one of the crew told me I was a day behind two other cyclist that had started in Maine. I caught up to them today. It was nice meeting cyclist again. It seems like it’s been a while since I have. The cyclist I do see are the serious guys out to set a new personal record for that stretch of road and don’t have time to talk other then to shout on your left.

I stopped at a food truck today. The name of the truck was The Big Labowlski.

When I hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2006 the movie The Big Lebowski was very popular. The movie was released in 1998. Im not sure why it was so popular with us hikers, but I think nearly every hostel had a copy of it and it was usually playing. But what caught my eye, even more then the creative painting, was a table of hot sauces. I love hot sauce! My Mother does not appreciate the culinary delight of the subtle differences of the wide range of peppers used to make various sauces. I was often asked if it was really necessary to have 14 bottles of hot sauce in the fridge.

Everything on the menu came layered in a bowl. I got the special which was smothered steak. I didn’t ask what that was and for $11 dollars my expectations where not set very high. I thought it would be a breaded and fried steak with gravy. I was wrong! It was a real steak covered in onions peppers fried potatoes and then covered in sausage gravy with jalapeños on top. It was delicious! If your ever hungry on Route 17 in S.C stop at the Big Labowlski!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!
