We stayed at Swains Lock again today. Our original plan was leave our camp set up and ride into D.C. and back. After yesterday’s rain the path was pretty muddy and our riding clothes were still wet. Putting on cold, wet clothes to ride in the mud wasnt real inviting. So we made another pot of coffee and hung our clothes up to dry. We decided to skip D.C and we just rode as far as Great Falls.

Yesterday while reading in our hammocks, a squirrel chewed a hole through Rose’s Ortlieb pannier. Then chewed through the food bag.It was a very stealthy squirrel, the pannier was only 6 feet away and we never heard a sound. It also must of been fairly health conscious because it chose the whole wheat tortillas out of all the other snacks in the food bag. I guess we have similar taste, they were my favorite too. I’m just glad it didn’t share my appetency for coffee.

I patched the hole with tenacious tape so it should still be waterproof. I have had raccoons, bears, javelinas and porkypines get into my food but this was the first squirrel for me.

After our short ride to Great Falls, Rose rode to a grocery store that was a few miles away. She picked up a couple things that were on sale and also got a loaf of bread. We had boneless chicken thighs, couscous and French bread for dinner.

Matthew that water looks like itsreally rushing. The food looks delicious. That squirrel was really bold.
Yes it was!
Maybe dinner should have been squirrel instead of chicken 😆
Lol not a bad idea!
