Little Miami River

I left the motel around 10. An earlier start would of been nice but I had a lot to pack and organize. I rode up to the T.A truck stop and bought a banana and a can of coffee for breakfast. By 10:30 I was at the London trail head for the third time. I met a married couple there that had driven 90 miles one way to bike a 30 mile section. It being Saturday I thought the trail would be crowded. There was a good number of people out biking or walking but they where so spread out it didn’t seem crowded.

The weather was great. Quite a bit cooler then the past few days. Shortly after leaving the trailhead there was mile after mile of flat and open farmland. Its no wonder Vancouver was so terrified. I would not of left the shelter of the woods had I been him. I can’t imagine riding though these fields in that lightning!

The downed trees had already been cut up by the time I got to them. I saw fresh sawdust, but that was it.

I rode 62 miles today. I would like to think the rest day and the motel was the reason I was able to ride so many miles after such a late start. But it was probably due to a nice tail wind I had for half the day. I got to a campground along the Little Miami River around 6pm. When I first got to the river in Xania, it was very small. I could of jumped over it. Now it’s pretty good sized.

Dinner

I made some noodles and then went to bed. I didn’t think it was going to rain but it was pretty cloudy. That is my rain fly on the ground by hammock. I had it ready just in case.

  1. You certainly deserved a break after getting through that scary storm day. We’re to have showers a number of days this week and increased humidity. So stay dry and stay cool.

  2. The water looked so refreshing! i am going to try those teriyaki noodles! youre doing great on this journey!
