Hartford CT.

I crossed into Connecticut around 10 this morning.

It was overcast and cool today. Good riding weather. I was on roads for about 25 miles before I got on a beautiful rail trail.

Today on the rail trail i thought I saw chicken of the woods mushrooms. I parked the bike and walked back and a bit off the trail to them. Unfortunately they were not edible. On the way back to my bike I found a pair of bolt cutters! They were huge and I have no idea why they would be out here.

Connecticut has been great so far. It must be a rocky state though. There is miles and miles of old stone fences along the bike trail. Trees over 15 inches in diameter are growing on and through the fence so I know they have been there a while. One thing about Connecticut though is it doesn’t put up a lot of signs.

I have been by several old foundations that are well maintained but there is never a sign explaining what they were.

Today was very enjoyable but not much of interest happened. There was very few people on the trails today and I did not have a single conversation.

At a trailhead someone had left a can of chicken noodles soup. I had that for dinner tonight. It is just chilly enough that soup was a perfect dinner. Plus it was free!

I’m camped along the trail again tonight. This was last nights stealth camp. Its definitely not very stealthy haha. Tonight campsite is about the same. Im very thankfully for all the benches that have been donated. Its funny how something as simple as a bench can mean so much to us cyclist. Its way better then cooking and sitting on the ground!
