I didn’t quite make it to the northern terminus today. Im about 2.5 miles away. My plan this morning was to ride past my Warm shower host to the end, then come back for the night. But there was lots of distractions today so by the time I got to Cleavland I was ready to quit riding.

The trail was off roads all day today. The canal had water in it and there was lots of wildlife.

I broke my bike chain around 10:30 and since I was stopped i cooked an early lunch. I had pasta sides the garlic shells this time. I have quick links in my tool kit to repair the chain. I had found both sides of the broken link and even the two little rollers, so instead of replacing the link I pressed the old link back together with my little chain tool. That took a while. Probably an hour. I won’t get technical. Ha ha. Any way it was a mistake and crossed the line from being frugal to being ridiculously cheap. It barely worked and if I pedaled hard the chain skipped. 3 miles later it broke again and this time I used the spare link and was back on the road in 5 minutes. There was even a table right where it happened.

I passed some pretty neat areas. My favorite was the bike path went out over Summit lake a little ways. It wasn’t floating i don’t think. I couldn’t feel any movement at least.

I got to the WS host house close to 6pm Keith and Julie were not home yet but had emailed me to go out to there back yard and make myself at home. Their back yard is amazing. With astro turf lots of flowers and nice patio furniture it reminds me of Key West, Florida. I got set up and started sorting through the day’s pictures when Keith got home and showed me around. I took a really long and great shower. It was awesome! Then I put clothes in the washer. By that time Julie had fixed me a huge plate of pasta. It was so good! Their kindness was unbelievable. I was happy just for a yard to sleep in and not having to get a motel. They went way above and beyond what I could imagine. Instantly they made me feel welcome and at ease. They made my first Ws stay perfect! Even there dogs, Louise and Sadie were super friendly. I have not asked if I could take pictures of the yard yet but if I see them in the morning I will and then put them in tomorrow’s post.
I think there was a lot more that happened today that I wanted to write about but its 10pm and I’m tired!
You’re meeting such generous people. If any of them are headed our way, we’d offer our yard & shower.
Thats really nice of you!
You got some great pictures today!

The egret got his fish! I love reading the blog its very informative!
I’m going to talk to my husband about joining WarmShowers. We live on a lake and get a lot of cyclists out this way. What a great way to give back.
Yes it is and it means so much to us cyclist.
