Geneva on the Lake

I left my back yard oasis early. The weather was going to be in the 90s and I wanted to get as much while it was cool as possible. Also it was all on roads

Backyard campsite

After leaving around 7 am I rode the 3 miles to the end of the OTET. I biked 578 miles on the Ohio to Erie trail. It is only 320 miles but since I started in Massillon then headed south to Cincinnati I covered a lot of it twice.

Northern terminus

I liked Cleavland a lot more then Cincinnati. It was less touristy, and dirtier but more real somehow. Like a house that is lived in versus a show place. One disappointment was it was hard to find a coffee shop! I had 3 cups at my Ws host but that was several hours ago. I found a Dunkin around 10:30 and stopped for a doughnut a latte and a sandwich. It was $13 dollars which seemed unreasonably expensive. I rarely buy food at Dunkin so maybe it is always expensive. It was what I needed for the 62 mile day ahead of me and it really hit the spot. Thanks every one for the coffee fund!

Cleavland had bike specific traffic lights

Even though Cleavland is a pretty large city the roads were nearly empty. Also most of them had a bike lanes. It was an enjoyable ride today. I don’t know if it was the pasta last night from my Warmshower host or if I had a tail wind but the 62 miles flew by. I got to Geneva on the Lake at 5 pm. Im staying at a Warmshowers tonight too. The hosts are Pat and Carol and they have a cottage right on the lake.

Pat and Carol

I’m not the only guest staying here though. Lilian started in Seattle. Gabriella started in Idaho. Both are headed to Maine.

After we all had swam in lake Erie it was dinner time. We had sloppy Joe’s pasta salad, cucumbers tomatoes and zucchini that Pat and Carol grew themselves. Later for desert there was cookies and watermelon.

Home for the night
